🎙️ Voice Control Troubleshooting (Mac & PC)

If voice commands aren’t being recognized, try turning off the in-game music in Settings.

However, most issues are microphone-related and can be fixed in under a minute.

✅ 1. Make sure your microphone works

Before launching the game:

• Test your microphone in another app (Zoom, Discord, Voice Recorder, etc.)
• Speak normally — if that app doesn’t hear you, the game won’t either

🍎 macOS Users

2. Check microphone permission

1. Open System Settings
2. Go to Privacy & Security → Microphone
3. Make sure the game (or Unity if running from the editor) is enabled
4. If you just enabled it, quit and relaunch the game

🟡 The yellow microphone icon at the top of your screen means macOS sees the mic in use.

This is normal behavior and expected while the game is running.

3. Check macOS input device

1. Open System Settings → Sound → Input
2. Select the microphone you actually want to use
3. (Built-in Mic, USB headset, gaming mic, etc.)
4. Speak and confirm the input level moves

⚠️ If your iPhone is nearby, macOS may default to it as a microphone.

This is normal macOS behavior (Continuity Camera).

🪟 Windows Users

2. Check microphone permission

1. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
2. Make sure:

• Microphone access is ON
• Allow desktop apps is ON

1. Restart the game after changing settings

3. Check Windows input device

1. Open Settings → System → Sound
2. Under Input, select your microphone
3. Speak and confirm the input meter responds

🎮 In-Game Usage Tips

• Hold the spacebar while speaking (push-to-talk)
• Speak clearly and at a normal pace
• Speak only the LAST THREE characters of an aircraft
• Don’t group numbers. Speak in SINGLE DIGITS only.
• Release the spacebar to submit the command
• Avoid background noise when possible

Voice recognition works best with short, clear phrases.

🎧 Common Issues & Fixes

❌ “Nothing happens when I speak”

✔ Microphone permission is missing

✔ Wrong input device selected

✔ Microphone volume too low

❌ “It worked once, now it doesn’t”

✔ Restart the game

✔ Unplug/replug USB microphone

✔ Re-select the mic in system settings

❌ “Recognition is inaccurate”

✔ Speak slightly slower

✔ Reduce background noise

✔ Avoid Bluetooth headsets if possible

(Bluetooth mics may reduce audio quality)

ℹ️ Important Notes

• Voice recognition runs entirely offline
• No audio is recorded or sent anywhere
• The microphone is only used while the game is running
• Push-to-talk prevents accidental listening
